Zambia Association of Parents for Children with Disabilities (ZAPCD) is a membership organisation made up of parents of children and young people with disabilities to advocate on their behalf.

We are dedicated to advocating for equal rights and inclusion for children and youth with disabilities in Zambia. We work to empower families, raise awareness and influence policies to ensure every child can access the opportunities they deserve.

Due to fear, stigma, and the high costs of medical assessments, many children with disabilities in Zambia do not receive the formal assessments that enable them to access vital services and assistive devices. The result is only 12% of children with disabilities will complete secondary education, trapping them and their families in a cycle of poverty.

ZAPCD EXISTS TO CHANGE THIS.

We have a team of qualified disability professionals working across six provinces in Zambia, delivering a range of programs supporting families of children with disabilities in rural and urban areas.

OUR IMPACT

We work across a number of areas including parent support, early childhood intervention, inclusive education, livelihoods programs and advocacy and awareness raising to ensure a better life for children with disabilities in Zambia.
